Dental Implant Records to Take Home After Treatment in Vietnam

Before you leave your implant appointment in Hanoi, ask for three things: a record of the implants you received, a summary of the work completed and a written plan for your next visit. If you return to Australia or Taiwan, these dental implant records give your local dentist a starting point. They are equally useful if you live in Vietnam and later change clinics.

What should an implant card tell you?

Look for the manufacturer and the exact model of each implant. A receipt that says “two dental implants” tells you what you paid for, but it leaves your next dentist guessing which parts were used. If you received more than one implant, ask the clinic to match each label to its position in your mouth. A simple diagram can be easier to follow than tooth numbers alone.

The US Food and Drug Administration advises patients to ask their dentist which brand and model of implant system was used and to keep that information. Whether your clinic gives you a printed card, product labels or a digital record, check that you can read those details. Read the FDA’s patient guide to dental implants.

Ask for a handover after each stage

Suppose you fly home wearing a temporary bridge. A dentist seeing you for the first time needs to know when the implants were placed, whether the bridge is temporary and who will fit the final teeth. Ask for a short treatment summary in a language your next dentist can read. For All-on-4 treatment, ask the clinic to identify the upper or lower arch and list the components supporting the bridge.

  • Treatment summary. Request the dates, implant positions and any additional procedures, such as bone grafting. Ask which work is complete and what remains.
  • Existing images. Ask which dated X-rays would help your next dentist and how to obtain copies. Open the files before you leave, especially if the download link expires.
  • Follow-up instructions. Get your next review date, care instructions for your current teeth and a clinic contact your dentist can reach with your permission.

Who will handle the next appointment?

Before booking a return flight, ask which visit needs to take place in Hanoi and which checks a dentist near home can provide. Contact that practice in advance to confirm what it can take on and how it prefers to receive records. If the next stage depends on a healing review, ask who will assess you before you buy tickets. Our guide to implant treatment trips explains how to plan around separate visits.

At your last appointment, try asking: “Could we look through my implant record together? I’d like to show my dentist which teeth are temporary, what was fitted and when you want to see me again.” Save the summary and images together, then update the folder when your final teeth are fitted.
